When we couldn't find the perfect license plate for our 1939 Ford Pickup, we built one ourselves—and Outsen Plate Co. was born.

Finding the right antique license plate can be a nightmare. Originals are nearly impossible to find, outrageously expensive, or too rusted to mount on your car. That’s where we come in.

A note about sizing: In 1956, U.S. states and Canadian provinces came to an agreement with the Automobile Manufacturers Association that fixed the size of all passenger vehicle plates at 6 by 12 inches (150 by 300 mm), with mounting holes spaced 7 inches (180 mm).

So if your car is 1956 or newer, it should fit just fine. In fact, it may fit earlier cars too! Please measure, as we also have an undrilled option that you can customize to fit.

If you have an earlier car or just different size mounting holes, we offer an option with no holes drilled. You can get out your drill press and drill holes wherever you need to fit your car. For example, some cars are equipped with bottom-only mounts, and some owners prefer to customize the holes to their exact specifications.
